Describe your proposed project in no more than 500 words. In what ways, and to whom, will it be important? How will it succeed? In writing the narrative, please keep in mind the criteria the Awards Committee will be considering.
Exactly what do you propose to do, and when? Very briefly, describe the stages of the project in chronological order. Be sure to indicate the beginning and ending dates for your project. This time period must fall between August 1, 2019 and December 31, 2020.
In no more than 100 words, explain how the project director is particularly qualified to conduct this project.
Briefly state what each collaborator’s role in the project will be and what skills and experience he or she will contribute to the enterprise.
Briefly describe the mission of the organization and the resources it will bring to the proposed project.
Explain the mission of the group, its history and activities relevant to this project, and the resources it will provide for the project. Submit with your proposal a letter from an appropriate member of the community group, expressing support of the project and describing how the group will participate in it.
Explain how you arrived at the estimates of your expenses in each category, and (if it is not obvious) how the items for which you are requesting funding are relevant to your project. In all cases, award funds must be applied to expenses directly connected with the project. NSN awards will not fund food or refreshments. If you request funding for salaries, honoraria, operating expenses, or the purchase of equipment, you must justify these requests in detail, demonstrating why they are essential to the project.
What support, if any, will you be receiving (or at least requesting) from other sources beyond NSN? If you will use the NSN award all or partly as matching funds to attract other gifts, please explain this in your narrative.
In a narrative of no more than 500 words explain how you will capture the requested data listed below.
In the final report for the project the following information is requested where applicable:
1. Statement of community need served by project.
2. Numbers of people/states/counties/countries were impacted by this project.
3. Percentage of underserved population (seniors, children, minorities, special needs) served by this project.
4. Efforts undertaken to provide accessibility.
5. Explanation of how the people/state/counties/countries were impacted by this project.
6. Number of volunteers involved with this project with an explanation of how volunteers were obtained and any organizational connection they may have.
7. Projected future outcomes from this project.
Please upload two letters of reference for your project. Your references should be knowledgeable about your work and the project, but should not be involved in the project either as producers or as financial beneficiaries. (Thus, for instance, they should not be sponsors, hosts, or producers of funded events, or administrators or faculty of universities hosting research projects.) Letters of reference may not be written by members of the NSN Member Awards Committee, the NSN staff, or the NSN Board of Directors.
