Talk & Tales with Denise McCormack

PHILADELPHIA, PA: Patchwork presents Metaphor and the Power of Story, Talk and Tales with Denise McCormack, part of the Philadelphia Fringe Festival, on Sunday, September 25  @ 6 PM EST at The Rotunda, 4014 Walnut Street, Philadelphia.  This unique storytelling event explores some of our favorite and best known folk tales, the hold they have on us, and how we live stories– all from the personal and practiced vantage point of a storyteller.  Suitable for  adults  and older teens.  Running Time: approx. 60 minutes. This live event is  open to the public with free and Pay-What-You-Wish ticket options for greater accessibility for all. (Suggested donation: $15 pp)

Says McCormack, “Stories excite me.  They have secret messages that only reveal themselves when we purposefully seek them out, often at those times in our lives when we need them most.  I mean to share some of the stories that made us who we are and that still have an uncanny power to transform us in ways we never imagined.”

Storyteller Denise McCormack shares her connection and history with story and revisits early versions of our “oldest” folktales and ascribed moral guideposts to uncover the often twisted and subversive nature of those we live by and to expose what really lies behind the curtains, under the covers, and even in broad daylight, in this fun and informative romp. Who’s afraid of the big, bad wolf?
