Do you have favorite tales featuring brave and clever women as protagonists?
I am fond of several, including Kate Crackernuts and the Singing, Soaring Lark.

In particular, I’d like to hear about stories that work well with children ages 4 and 5 years old.

I enjoy telling “vasilissa the Valiant.” It’s similar to “The Lute Player” — which is in the repertoire of several storytellers I know. “Pottle of Brains” features a clever woman, but she’s not the protagonist. Oh, and there’s “The Woman Who Flummoxed the Fairies.”
