The 2019 National Storytelling Summit is being held in Fremont, California at the Marriott Fremont Silicon Valley. Registration is now open! Please continue to check the National Storytelling Summit website for the most up-to-date information about the Summit and related events.

The 2019 Summit is a great chance to see some fabulous performances, award-winning keynote speakers and participate in a variety of workshops over a four day period, conducted by the “cream-of-the-crop” of storyteller presenters.

The vision of the Summit is to bring together all the individuals, organizations, businesses and institutions who seek to advance their skills, knowledge and showcase their talent from across the world. It is also a great time to see old friends and meet new ones through our networking events, that will encourage sharing information, mentoring, long-lasting collaborations and friendships. You will meet individuals using storytelling in all of its forms and mediums at the National Storytelling Summit.

Registration Rates

Early Registration (ends June 1, 2019) – EXTENDED UNTIL JUNE 15, 2019!

Full Summit Registration

The best way to get the most out of the National Storytelling Summit! Full Summit registration gives you access to all workshops, keynotes, receptions, networking events, and performances. If you register by the early registration deadline of June 15, 2019, you’ll save $75.00 off the price of registration!

Senior Registration

Must be 65 years or older. You will need to show your ID when you pick up your registration packet.

Student Registration

Must be currently enrolled, full-time or part-time, in high school or in a college or university degree-granting program. You will need to show your valid school ID when you pick up your registration packet.

One Day Pass

Can’t join us for the entire Summit? Spend the day with us. A one-day Summit pass includes:

  • Registration packet and all Summit materials
  • Access to the Summit activities, events, and performances for the day you select*
  • Access to all Keynote sessions for the day you select
  • Access to your choice of Summit workshops for the day you select

*Master Classes and President’s Fundraiser are not included with Single Day Registrations and must be purchased separately.

Individual Event Tickets

One ORACLE Awards Ceremony & Reception ticket and all events included in the performance package are included with full Summit registration packages and do not need to be purchased separately unless you are purchasing additional tickets for a guest. Master Classes and the President’s Fundraiser Dinner are not included in any package and require an additional fee.

Master Classes

Master Classes are 4 hours of intensive learning with an expert on the topic and a limited class size for the maximum learning opportunity. (Please note: no substitutions are allowed; Master Class registration does not include Summit registration)

President’s Fundraiser Dinner

Join NSN chair and president Bill Wight for a special fundraising dinner on Friday evening. Word is, he’ll be bringing a special guest to dinner!

Performance Package

The Performance Package includes all Fringes, Show Cases, Slams, and Concerts. Full Summit registrants do not need to purchase this package to be admitted to these events.

National Storytelling Summit Host Hotel

The host hotel of the 2019 National Storytelling Summit is the Fremont Marriott Silicon Valley. Staying at the host hotel during the Summit will help NSN meet our hotel contract requirements! In appreciation, NSN is offering a discount on the hotel room fee to attendees who choose to stay at the host hotel. To receive the discount, attendees must register for their hotel rooms using the NSN Summit registration form. This arrangement is not valid through the hotel directly. Post-Summit Field Trips

Summit attendees can extend their stay and enjoy some additional fun on Sunday afternoon, following the close of the Summit! NSN is presenting two opportunities to get out and see more of the San Francisco Bay Area than the Marriott Hotel. One field trip takes attendees out into nature, the other into the heart of San Francisco. Click here to read more about the post-Summit field trips.

Online registration is the fastest and easiest way to register for the Summit. The online registration form can be accessed by clicking the appropriate registration button below and will be available to registrants until Monday, July 15, 2019. A credit card is required for payment.

All registrants who wish to sign up for the Summit payment plan must provide a valid credit card number to be enrolled in the payment plan option. On-Site registration rates will be in effect beginning Sunday, June 16, 2019, through Monday, July 15, 2019. As of Monday, July 15, 2019, NSN will no longer accept pre-registrations and you must register on-site at the Summit. You can expedite the on-site registration process by downloading and completing the paper registration form and bringing it with your payment to the registration desk at the Summit. On-site registrations will be accepted at any time during regular registration hours.

Summit Installment Plan

NSN is offering to spread your registration fee into equal monthly installments with no interest or fees! All you need to do is register with a credit card. The first month’s installment will be due at the time of registration. Then the remaining installments will automatically be charged to the provided credit card. The number and amount of the installment payments will be based on how many months remain until Monday, July 15, 2019.  All registration fees (installment plans included) must be paid in full by Monday, July 15, 2019.

Consent to use of photographic images: Registration and attendance at, or participation in, the NSN National Storytelling Summit constitutes an agreement by the registrant to NSN’s use and distribution (both now and in the future) of the registrant or attendee’s image or voice in photographs, videotapes, electronic reproductions, and audiotapes.

Special Assistance: NSN is committed to making the Summit accessible to all individuals. If you anticipate needing special assistance while at the Summit, please indicate that information along with a list of your needs on your registration form in the appropriate location or inform the NSN staff of your needs prior to the Summit.

Requests for reasonable accommodations at the Summit should be made as early as possible, so we may best accommodate individual needs and requirements. On-site requests will be accommodated to the best of our ability, however, available resources may be limited.

American Sign Language Interpreters: If you require an interpreter please submit your request before June 8, 2019. After this date, NSN cannot guarantee requests for interpreters can be fulfilled; however, we will make every effort to accommodate requests. Cancellation Policy:

If you need to cancel your registration, we must have your request in writing. Written notices of cancellation may be sent via email to or via postal mail to National Storytelling Network, 8900 N.E. Flintlock Road, Kansas City, MO 64157

  • Registrations canceled more than 60 days before the event will be refunded 80% of the registration fees;
  • Registrations canceled less than 60 days but more than 30 days before the event will be refunded 50% of the registration fees;
  • Registrations canceled less than 30 days before the event will not be eligible for a refund.

Attendee substitutions may be made at any time and must be submitted in writing. The appropriate member/non-member rate will apply for substitutions.

All cancelations and refunds will be processed in the same manner as original payment: if paid by credit card, the refund will be issued to the card on record; payments made by check will be refunded as a check.
