Ambassadors Needed!

Stack your savings and enjoy an even bigger discount off of your full conference registration by volunteering as a conference ambassador! This year there are several volunteer opportunities for attendees. If you are willing to serve throughout the entire conference, that is ideal for everyone’s experience. Please note that those who serve as ambassadors may have the opportunity at times to step in the content experiences, but full understanding that serving as an ambassador is the priority.

Ambassador Roles

Registration Ambassador Corps: Registration ambassadors are responsible for welcoming attendees, answering general questions, and distributing registration materials. Registration ambassadors must have the ability to stay calm when faced with a crowd of people with lots of questions. This position requires the ability to troubleshoot, process questions/information, and be a positive face for NSN. Attendees will expect you to have the answer to everything, so familiarize yourself with the conference schedule; special events, restaurants, and other items that you believe will contribute to an overall positive conference experience including information about the conference for first-time attendees.

Marketplace Ambassador Corps: Marketplace ambassadors will be stationed in the Conference Marketplace and are responsible for assisting with the inventory check-in and check-out process, the Silent Auction donation check-in process, and assisting attendees with purchases from the Marketplace and Silent Auction. They may also be asked to assist with restocking Marketplace inventory. Marketplace ambassadors must be computer literate and have the ability to stay calm when faced with a crowd of attendees ready to purchase. Standing may be required for busy times.

Workshop Ambassador Corps: As a workshop ambassador, you will liaise with the speakers and performers to ensure they have all necessary equipment, check attendee badges and welcome attendees as they enter the session room, provide a session headcount, and provide evaluation information to attendees. Workshop ambassadors may request a certain workshop to liaise; while NSN will try to honor all requests, requests are not guaranteed. A minimum of one workshop ambassador is assigned to each room.

Photographer: We are looking for a couple of experienced volunteer photographers who can take photos of our event to capture all the networking and energy buzzing at the conference. Photographers are needed to properly document all aspects of the conference and provide NSN staff with copies of the best photos to use on our website, social media outlets, newsletter and other media. If you are interested in this role, please send examples of your work or a portfolio to danni@storynet.org.

Please note: This role is for those with photography skills that can provide their own camera for the job.

Ambassadors are expected to be punctual, respectful and helpful during their shifts. It is very beneficial to become knowledgeable about various aspects of the conference such as event locations, the layout of the venue, general conference information, and program details.

To be eligible for the ambassador discount, ambassadors must:

  • Sign up for ambassador shift(s) before completing the conference registration
  • Sign up for a minimum of one, four-hour shift during the conference
  • Be registered as a conference attendee

This year you will have an opportunity to select the day and times you are willing to volunteer. Note: volunteer spaces are limited and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Be sure to review your registration selections so they do not conflict with the times you have selected to volunteer.

There may be circumstances that arise that require ambassadors to be placed where needed. If this should occur your selected days and time slots will not be altered.

Ambassadors will receive a confirmation email and discount code to be used for conference registration.

If you have a question about volunteering at the conference that is not answered here, please feel free to contact our office at 1-800-525-4514 or events@storynet.org.
