NSN is looking for storytellers interested in performing in a Showcase Performance at the 2018 National Storytelling Summit.

The selection committee is looking for the most diverse showcases possible both in terms of the agen, race, and gender identification of storytellers, genres and styles.

You know what storytelling has been...now imagine what storytelling can be!

NSN is very excited to announce the creation of two partner programs!

Our first program, Writing Fanfiction for Tabletop Gaming, will be held in conjunction with our local partner, Woodneath Library Story Center (part of the Mid-Continent Public Library system) and is scheduled for March 4, 2018.

Our second program is a Digitization Party and is a joint effort with local partners Scangaroo and the Midwest Genealogy Center (part of the Mid-Continent Public Library system). Schedule for June 1, 2018 this event will be held in conjunction with the Midwest Genealogy Center's 10th birthday.

NSN is now accepting inquires of interest from organizations who are interested in co-hosting the 2019 National Storytelling Summit, held during the summer of 2019.  If your organization is interested in receiving a Request for Proposal application please send an email with contact information to events@storynet.org. Application and instructions will be sent to you within 48 hours of email receipt. The deadline for inquiries is February 16, 2018.

In research supported by the National Cancer Institute, researchers measured the effect of a storytelling interview plus online resources on more than 40 people diagnosed with stage 3 or 4 cancer. The interview covered topics including important accomplishments and difficulties overcome, the effects of their cancer on them and their family, and how they’d like to be remembered in 20 or 30 years.
