The Story Center at Woodneath Library is looking for a storyteller to present a walking tour program in the Kansas City area on May 18, 2018. The program requires the storyteller to tell stories of journey ending with a story of homecoming that would take around 45 minutes and would need to be presented twice for two different tour groups as they participate in the walking tour. This program is part of the Mid-Continent Public Library's Woodneath public campaign committee’s friendraising Friday events.

Now is the time to register for the NSN National Storytelling Summit scheduled for July 26-28, 2018.

The theme of this year's Summit is "Communities, Conflicts, and Transformational Stories." The Summit will provide attendees with the opportunity to learn from and network with storytellers from every corner of the world while enjoying performances and keynote sessions from some of the top performers and presenters in the storytelling community.

Science is complex. And like many professionals in fields with their own terms unknown to the general public, medical researchers often have difficulty explaining their research to the public. However, stories can animate data.

Dhruv Khullar, a resident in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and a contributing writer to the New York Times, spoke of the importance of storytelling in health care in his closing keynote at Medicine X | ED. He sited a three step framework developed by Harvard professor Marshall Ganz, an expert in the use of story to inspire change.

The NSN Summit/Conference Committee is in the midst of finalizing details for our meeting in Kansas City this coming July. The reason for my writing is that we are still seeking RFPs for regions/Storytelling organizations interested in hosting the 2019 NSN Summit/Conference.
