OARS in the Water

Wednesday, July 26th
7:00 – 8:30 pm EDT – Online
Hosted by: Heather Forest & Sara deBeer
Theme: Mentors & Muses

Our life’s journey contains many unexpected twists and turns. Fortunately, we do not walk alone. Join us as we explore and appreciate those mentors and muses who have been our guiding lights and inspirations

OARS in the Water is a facilitated Zoom gathering on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month offered by Healing Story Alliance to create a listening space to share the experiences and stories that have emerged through turbulent times. This is not a therapeutic circle but we do hope it will be healing, supportive and inspiring. We’ll gather via Zoom – see link below.

Admission is free, although donations are deeply appreciated and help support our programming. Your tax deductible donation can be made here:  https://square.link/u/d9xbGN2I

About our Hosts for July 26th

Heather Forest is an award-winning storyteller, author, and modern-day bard. Her repertoire of world tales told in a fusion of poetry, prose, original folk music and the sung and spoken word has been featured in theatres, schools, conferences and major storytelling festivals throughout the United States and abroad. She is an author of seventeen award winning folktale books and storytelling recordings and holds a PhD in Leadership and Change from Antioch University. She is a recipient of both the Circle of Excellence Award for performance skills and the 2021 Talking Leaves Award for her contributions to storytelling literature presented by the National Storytelling Network. She is President of the Board of Directors of HSA and the chair of the Healing Story Alliance Advisory Committee.

Sara deBeer’s great love is telling traditional folktales from world cultures. Since 1978, Sara has been telling these stories to audiences of all ages. A listener said, “Sara is a captivating storyteller, sensitive to her audience and their interests.  Her extensive repertoire enables her to present programs on a wide variety of themes.”  Sara is a published poet who also teaches poetry-writing classes. In 2004, she was awarded the Barbara Reed Award for Distinguished and Outstanding Service to the Connecticut Storytelling Community. http://storydebeer.com/
