Heather Forest, PhD

Heather Forest, PhD, is a storyteller, author, storytelling consultant, and the founder and executive director of Story Arts Inc., a Long Island based not-for-profit organization dedicated to the art of storytelling and its educational applications. She has performed her repertoire of world tales both nationally and internationally. She has been featured at the National Storytelling Festival, TN, the Museum of Modern Art, NY, The Smithsonian Institute, Washington, D.C., the Sidmouth International Folk Festival, England, and the Glistening Waters Storytelling Festival, New Zealand.

Her folktale books and recordings have won numerous awards including the American Library Association’s Notable Recording Award and several Parents’ Choice Gold Awards. Dr. Forest has been a presenter of story arts seminars at the International Leadership Association Annual Conference, Chicago, IL, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers Annual Conference, Philadelphia, PA, the Bronx Public Defenders Trial Academy at Columbia University, the Smithsonian Center for Education and Museum Studies, Washington, D.C., and at the International Storytelling Center, Jonesborough, Tennessee. She has been a keynote speaker at the Golden Fleece Group’s Storytelling in Organizations Conference at the Copenhagen Business School, Denmark.

Dr. Forest holds a Master’s Degree in Storytelling and a PhD In Leadership and Change from Antioch University. She is a recipient of the Circle of Excellence Award presented by the National Storytelling Network for performance skills, and the 2021 Talking Leaves Award for her contributions to storytelling literature.
