Summary:
When Native American storyteller Raggatha Rain Calentine is telling a story, people sit and listen. They listen and they watch as the Selbyville resident becomes fully engrossed in her tale, sometimes to the point that she feels she is a part of it.
“Sometimes I don’t even see the people, I just see the story moving in front of me,” Calentine said. “I’m actually very quiet and very shy except when I’m telling stories.”
Calentine, of Cherokee descent, and Boe Harris, who is from the Chippewa tribe of Turtle Mountain, N.D., were on hand last Wednesday at Delaware Technical & Community College as part of the school’s Women’s History Month celebration.
Utilizing drama, humor, song and audience participation, the two use thought-provoking stories as a way to share knowledge and to have people reflect about their current paths.
