Spirit of Oklahoma Storytelling Virtual Festival
All by zoom, with Storytelling, workshop, with Oklahoma tellers as well as Texas, New Mexico, Kansas, Illinois. A variety of tellers and stories. Friday evening at 6:30 with a little opening music by Rosie Cutrer, then Oklahoma stories followed by ghost stories. A Saturday morning workshop on finding your own story, then story swaps, a business meeting, more story swaps and wrap up the evening with a little more opening music by Fran Stallings, a tribute to a former member, music by David Goodroe, story by David Titus and close with our featured teller, Donna Ingham, folklorist and well known Texas Tall Tale Teller. Kalamazoo Valley Museum Storytelling Festival - Raising a Generation that Changes the World
Inspired by the "I AM" picture book series by Susan Verde, five storytelling sessions will feature three stories each related to the five books. These family appropriate stories focus on compassion, mindfulness, action, empathy, and reflection. The website includes pre-festival stories, introduction to the books by the author, and thought provoking blogs. 2:30-3:30 Storytelling Program (2:15 log-in and sign ups) (Pacific Standard Time)
Anyone in the audience is welcomed to tell a tale as time allows. As always, people are invited to just come and listen, as well. Any type of story is welcome: funny, heartbreaking, appreciative, family, personal, folktale or from any other story genre (8 minutes max). At the June 5th event Guild members BZ Smith, Kathy Martinez, and Claudia Tonge will share stories. We also love it when new people tell.. It’s a treat to hear new storytelling voices!
To tell a story, please sign up in advance by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. You may also sign up at the beginning of the event, 2:15 pm PST, before storytelling begins. Tellers will be chosen on a “first come; first served” basis.
