Bio
Hardluck Lin edu-tains young and the “older-than-young” alike with Tales of the California Gold Rush. While the stage may be a classroom, an amphitheater, or a lecture hall, the “telling” is done in the manner of those early California Argonauts who sat about campfires warming hands, drying britches, and sharing stories that would one day be memorialized as history, legend, or even as myth.
I grew up, a farmer's daughter, in a small community south of Mankato, Minnesota. After receiving my Bachelor of Science degree from Mankato State University, I began traveling my life's path. While on this journey I have worn many hats: native Minnesotan, California transplant, high school teacher, junior college instructor, Deputy Sheriff, wife, mother, author, and gold rush historian.
My current hat is that of my Mother Lode Gold Rush living-history persona: Storyteller Hardluck Lin: Teller of Tales, Spinner of Yarns, and Keeper of History.
Types of performances: School programs (please contact me for complete information); campfires (school and adult), community organizations, history-related organizations, private gatherings, walking tours of Columbia State Historic Park, Columbia, CA
