Every year, the National Storytelling Network invites voices from across the globe to come together in celebration of story. In 2026, we’ll gather in the Texas Panhandle, where the sweeping prairies and the grand walls of Palo Duro Canyon set the stage for Prairie Voices – Honoring Heritage, Inspiring Tomorrow. Here, stories will echo across generations—heritage meeting innovation, the wisdom of the past sparking the voices of tomorrow. Whether you are a seasoned teller, a first-time attendee, a sponsor, or a performer, your voice matters in shaping this year’s gathering. We’re calling on YOU to be part of the journey. Share your stories, your expertise, your passion—and help us weave a conference tapestry that honors where we’ve been and inspires where we are going.

Travel:
- If you’re arriving by car, ample campus parking is available.
- For those flying in, Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport (10801 Airport Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79111) is the nearest hub, and you’ll need to make your own arrangements for travel between the airport and the university.
- The conference will take place on the campus of West Texas A&M University, located 25 miles south of the airport (about a 27 minute drive.) Rental car companies who serve the airport include Avis, Alamo, Enterprise, National and Budget. (Click on this link for more information: https://www.fly-ama.com/parking-transportation/rental-cars). There is no airport shuttle but there are taxis and rideshares (click here for more information: https://www.fly-ama.com/parking-transportation/shuttles-taxis). Airlines serving the Amarillo Airport include American, Southwest and United.
Arrival:
- Upon arrival on campus, go to the Fine Arts Complex (#49 on the map below) to get your dorm assignment.
Parking:
- The parking lots are free. Park where it is convenient for you.
Location:
- In 2026, the National Storytelling Conference finds its home at West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas—just a stone’s throw from the breathtaking Palo Duro Canyon. The campus will serve as our gathering place, with workshops, concerts, housing, and meals all conveniently located right where the stories unfold.
- All workshops and concerts happen in the Sybil Harrington Fine Arts Complex (#49 on the map)
- Housing is at Buff Hall (#17 on the map) and Guenther Hall (#12 on the map)
- Meals are prepared in the Campus Dining Hall (#41 on the map). Box meals will be served on Saturday and Sunday mornings. There are fast food places within easy walking distance. Requests for special dietary needs go to Caleb at .
