Barbara Aliprantis:
Presents “A Greek Grows in Brooklyn“.
Barbara Aliprantis was born in Greece, raised in Brooklyn, NY and is currently a resident of Natick, MA.
She is an award-winning Bilingual (English/ASL) Storyteller, Impresario/Thespian/Cable TV Producer and Champion of the Deaf Community. Her awards include the 2018 NEST Brother Blue and Ruth Hill Award, an NSN Oracle Award, and she was honored at New York City Hall “…for her commitment to sharing multicultural folklore and immigrants’ experiences for both hearing and non-hearing audiences around the country.” In 1997, she launched & curated a monthly Tuesday evening series at The Cornelia Street Cafe in NYC Greenwich Village until Jan 2020. Mentors include Bernard Bragg and John Basinger of the National Theatre of the Deaf, Jay O’Callahan and Doug Lipman. She holds a BA in Performing Arts from Empire State College (SUNY) with a concentration in Total Communication and Performance
