Special Interest Groups

A Special Interest Group (SIG) is a formal group created by National Storytelling Network (NSN) members joining together within the structure of NSN for a common purpose, exploring their area of interest in storytelling. SIG members pay additional dues to support SIG activities, such as workshops sessions, publications, mentoring programs, etc. You must be a member of NSN to join a Special Interest Group.

If you are interested in organizing a new SIG, use the button below to submit your request. A new SIG must include at least 15 NSN members. Each SIG is required to have two members server on the NSN Board.

If you are not inclined to join a Special Interest Group but want to be a member of NSN for its annual conference, workshops, and concerts, then your choice would be the General Storytelling (GEN) grouping. GEN gives you all the benefits of NSN and opportunities to attend workshops produced by the SIGS.

NSN also provides for Discussion Groups. There is no cost for joining a Discussion Group and no minimum for the number of folks in the Group. Discussion groups are a way to create interest in a storytelling topic such as Folk and Fairy Tales, Personal Stories, LGBTQ+ Stories, Historical Tales, Literary Tales, etc. Click Here for details.
