You’ve heard of Gilgamesh and Inanna. You may have learned about the birth of civilization in school, but the myths of ancient Sumer, the first known human civilization found in the cradle of Mesopotamia, are so much more. Love, friendship, envy, grief. Every human emotion is found on those fragmentary stone tablets, scratched with cuneiform.

Join storyteller Laura Packer for an online celebration of Sumerian myth, from the familiar to a newly translated story, told again for possibly the first time in over 4,000 years. Laura will bring these stories to life in a live storytelling set, just as they were shared millennia ago. Create and destroy the world with Nintur and Enlil. Travel with Gilgamesh and Enkidu. Descend with Inanna. Mourn with Erishkigal. And meet a newly discovered god and his fox, whose story has only just been uncovered

CW: These are ancient stories with human hearts, they hold grief, loss, and wonder in equal measure. Can’t make it live? The recording is available for two weeks so you won’t be left behind.
