“Talking about Traditional Stories and Storytelling,” will be the topic at the free Faces of Diversity Brown Bag luncheon series noon to 1 p.m. Friday, March 16, at the Phoenix City Council Chambers, 200 W. Jefferson St.
Kathy Collins will share traditional stories from Hawaii: stories of Maui, the Hawaiian Superman and Pele, the volcano goddess. Raised on Maui, a radio show host, actress and storyteller, she tells her stories at local schools and community events.
The free series, an outreach of the city’s “We’re All On The Same Team” program, is sponsored by the Phoenix Human Relations Commission and the city’s Equal Opportunity Department. It features dynamic people telling their stories about diversity.

Featuring Stella Pope Duarte, award-winning author and community activist
June 29 – African-American Soldiers and the Civil War
Featuring Dr. Matthew Whitaker, associate professor of United States history, African-American studies, and justice and social inquiry, Arizona State University
July 20 – From Bangkok to Chiang Mai: A Window on the Kingdom of Thailand
Featuring members of the Thai Cultural Council of Arizona in cooperation with Wat Promkunaram Thai Buddhist Temple of Arizona
