Bio
Artist Statement
I am passionate about my vision, work and community. I seek to share the knowledge and values of healthful eating, self-discipline, and the joy of working together to achieve common goals through my Culinary Storytelling. In every culture, the rituals of eating – choosing, preparing, and sharing food – are a significant part of a people??™s shared identity. My storytelling would be incomplete without referencing meals and life in Liberia, West Africa which is the foundation of my personal cultural identity. My stories, which are based on African folk tales and community celebrations, have powerful appeal to children and young people from diverse backgrounds in the DC community. Since 1998, my mission has been to educate, nurture and help families discover healthful eating and begin their journey from fast-foods and highly processed meals consumption to affordable healthful meals.
