Orillia Today (Orillia, Ontario, Canada), October 24, 2013
Summary:
One year after Orillia’s inaugural ‘Canadian Storytelling Night’ drew an audience of about 50 people to a downtown space for an evening of tales and songs, organizers are preparing a follow-up with a twist.
“The idea is to create an annual event that can give storytellers a chance to bring their stories to their communities, across Canada,” said Sue Charters a member of Storytelling Orillia, the event’s organizer. “This year there is an emphasis on telling Canadian stories.”
Building on Orillia’s early success, the concept was picked up by Storytellers of Canada-Conteurs du Canada, a national arts organization.
“There will be events here, in Toronto, Calgary and Edmonton for Canadian Storytelling Night this fall,” Charters added.
