For 39 years the Sierra Storytelling Festival has invited a diverse group of tellers at the top of their game, from the far reaches of the world, to gather together for one magical weekend of tales, lessons, anecdotes and heart connection. In June of 2026 we welcome tellers Kim Weitkamp, Kevin Kling, Michael D. McCarty, Amy Bleumel, Yasu Ishida, with guest teller Roopa Mohan, and MC Tim Ereneta. Join us in our amazing setting under the pines and cedars; you won’t regret it.
Events begin with Michael McCarty’s workshop: “Tantalizing Tools to Teach Telling”, at 1pm on Friday June 26; proceed to a Children’s Story Hour with Yasu Ishida; and conclude with the evening concert featuring all tellers. Saturday June 27 begins with Open Telling at 9am, then each featured teller has a solo performance hour through the day. The Story Slam begins at 5:30pm with the theme “15 Minutes of Fame”, and the Festival closes with the Evening Gala, featuring all tellers.
