Summary:
Story Squad, a storytelling program of the YMCA of Metro Chicago’s Youth Safety and Violence Prevention (YSVP) initiative, empowers youth to channel their experiences through personal stories that are shared within their community and throughout the world.
After a public showcase with about 100 friends and family members of program participants, one participant said,
“At the end [of my story], I felt like we were all family. I became comfortable because I was telling the story, and they’re listening. They’re not judging me.”
