Summary:
THE art of the storyteller is set to be reinvigorated with the launch of a new festival in West Wales today. And it is hoped the event will help introduce families who have recently moved to the rural areas of Ceredigion, to the breadth of culture on offer.
The festival, Gwyl y Cyfarwydd, which takes place at venues throughout Ceredigion, including Theatr Felinfach – focuses on the importance of the storyteller within the historical and contemporary culture of Welsh communities.
Each event will not only have simultaneous translation facilities available but will also have community mentors who will introduce the newcomers to everyone present as well as provide a context for the storytelling.
“Our aim is to help people who have moved to Ceredigion recently to gain a safe entrance to the very heart of the vigorous cultural life which surrounds them,” said festival organiser Euros Lewis.
