An evening of fun stories featuring the Missouri Storytelling, Inc. (MO-TELL) board members.
–
Acclaimed storyteller Loren Niemi will engage renowned scholar Jack Zipes in a conversation about the role of the storyteller in the modern world. Among the topics they plan to discuss is the role of the storyteller in enabling school children to become storytellers of their own lives. Dr. Zipes will also share his enthusiam for doing research into the history of forgotten writers and illustrators--a practice that can reward any storyteller. And who knows where else the conversation may lead?
This event is open to everyone via Zoom teleconferencing. After registering, you'll receive an email message with the Zoom link.
Registration is free, although donations are appreciated to support SAM's virtual programming. The suggested donation is $10.
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

With “all that is going on” in our changing world, we are challenged to find new and creative ways to tell our stories and connect with our listeners. Connie is excited to transform her performance storytelling intensive workshop into an online version using the Zoom format.
Workshop participants learn new skills as we polish and adapt familiar techniques so we can continue to share our stories in a virtual way. Many have now experienced Connie’s approach to story feedback and are familiar with her ground rules for “appreciations,” deep listening, and partnering. This group setting also allows for more advanced coaching.

Six experienced storytellers stitch together a showcase sampler of tales--make-believe and true, serious and silly, ancient and new.
About this Event
We call ourselves The Porcupines. We're a group of women in the Twin Cities area who gather weekly to work on stories, practice telling them, and nurture friendship. Meetings continued during the COVID lockdown over Zoom, while opportunities to perform for wider audiences shrank. With this online program, we offer a sampler of the stories we've discovered and polished during the pandemic. Our stories reflect a range of styles and story types, including mythology, folk lore, literature, and original personal stories.
Emcee: Laura Packer
Featured tellers: Nancy Donoval, Katie Knutson, Carol McCormick, Margaret Meyers, Laura Packer, Sue Searing
Tickets at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/storytelling-sampler-from-the-porcupines-tickets-144127151189. You must order a ticket to receive the Zoom link. The suggested price is $10 but our program is open to all. We provide options to set your own price or to attend for free. All of us are full-time or part-time professional tellers whose income has been reduced by the pandemic. Donations will be split evenly among the tellers, with a portion set aside for Second Harvest Heartland to feed the hungry in our communities.

PATCHWORK CELEBRATES WORLD STORYTELLING DAY 2021
Patchwork: A Storytelling Guild supports and celebrates World Storytelling Day: New Beginnings on March 20, 2021 @ 7 PM EST. This event is free and open to the public and will be broadcast virtually.
According to Denise McCormack, president of Patchwork,
“Storytellers traditionally tell to live and intimate audiences, but we’re delighted to be able to bring our stories, with all of their integrity and charm, right into people’s homes. It’s thrilling to see that this age-old art form has found a place on such a broad, accessible, and diverse platform, and we’re happy to use it.
The stories are incredible and run the gamut from
folk and fairy tales to personal memoir, each one as unique as the teller who tells it.
This really promises to be a great show, and the audience can sit back and relax and just enjoy the experience of imagining those once-upon-a-times that capture our fancies and our hearts, right from their own living rooms.”
This program is sure to delight storylovers everywhere, and features Denise McCormack, Dennis Strain, Karen Maurer, Ed Lewis, Jill Lamede, Ray Tackett, and Ray Aptaker.
We encourage everyone to spread the word!

FREE EVENT BUT PLEASE REGISTER TO GET THE LINK!
One year ago, Six Feet Apart Productions was born with nothing more than a sketchy internet connection, the tech skills of two people who can barely navigate their TV remote and the desire to keep ourselves amused. Since our first glitchy show we've upped our game, added bells and whistles (curtains and a theme song) and a Tech Guru as well.
Sure, we've had our share of misunderstood muting, embarrassing camera angles, bad lighting and frozen screens, but most of all it has been a year of wonderful stories. For our anniversary show we are bringing back some of the 84 people who have graced out virtual stage for interviews and storytelling.
We could not have carried on this long without YOU, our audience, and we thank you for your support, encouragement and for showing up!
This show will be FREE, streamed live on YouTube. There is no charge for this event, but a virtual tip bucket will be available to be split among the performers, so that you have the option of donating if you wish.
Join co-producers Claire Hennessy and Regina Stoops along with our fabulous guests for the evening:
Sheila Arnold, Simon Brooks, Mary Carouba, Kate Farrell, Diane Ferlatte, JP Frary, Neshama Frannklin, Bil Lepp, Jessica Robinson, Cory Rosen, Brandon Spars and Kirk Waller
